Dear Friends,
Punta Gorda is such a special community. Despite national and
world events, we are forging ahead. Call it what you may, but
I call it vision, determination, courage, commitment, and pride.
One quick look around and you’ll see why.
- The Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center is open
and greeting residents and visitors.
- New hotels are offering visitors new experiences.
- New office buildings are coming out of the ground around
the city.
- New affordable housing projects offer excellent homes to
the disadvantaged.
- New landscaping graces us throughout all parts of the city.
It has taken the efforts of many to achieve these results including
TEAM Punta Gorda. Since 2004, when TEAM was founded, we’ve
been diligently working on behalf of the citizens of our community
to bring about the change envisioned in the Citizens’ Master
Plan 2005.
Yet, we’ve only just begun. TEAM’s active committees
are collaborating with many partners to achieve:
- An active waterfront with a promenade that stretches from
Fisherman’s Village to Charlotte Regional Medical Center;
attracts visitors and residents; features educational, historical,
and artistic components; and links with the linear parks to
form a “ring around the city.”
- A Spokes and Trails program with bicycle, walking, and running
paths around the city that links with Arcadia, Venice and Ft.
Myers.
- A virtual artisan’s district that brings together our
existing arts community and an artisan’s village where
emerging artists can produce their expressions and visitors
can watch and purchase new found treasures.
- A community where additional higher education compliments
existing educational opportunities.
- A higher educational institution that brings students from
around the globe that compliments industries that find Punta
Gorda the place to be.
- An augmented communications plan that tells what we’re
doing and what we’ve accomplished.
This is just the beginning. TEAM Punta Gorda is staffed by unpaid volunteers
who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to these and many
other projects and activities that support the principles of
the Citizens’ Master Plan. Waterfront, communications,
environment, grant resources, architecture, construction, marketing,
academia, and more…you name it! TEAM’s volunteers
have the talent to support it. TEAM also provides an office from
which our non-profit operates and offers valuable meeting space
for our committees to convene.
Your financial support is also important. Please
don’t feel restricted in what you think TEAM’s
work is worth to you in preserving our jewel by the water.
Remember, your contribution is tax deductible.
Very truly yours,

Nancy B. Prafke, CEO
